The Department of Geography was started in the 1983. Initially Dr. J.P. Jagtap, Dr. A.M. Navale and Dr. P.B. Pardeshi, Dr. Rachakar were the teachers. Dr. S.N. Gujar joined the department in 2005 as well as Dr. C.V. Tate joined the department in 2012, Dr. C.B. Londhe, Miss. S.S. Patil and Shri. R.L. Sonawane also joined the in 2014. Now the department is headed by Professor Dr. S.N. Gujar along with his colleagues Dr. C.V. Tate, Dr. C.B. Londhe, Miss. S.S. Patil and Shri. R.L. Sonawane.
The department runs the programs in the faculties of Humanities as well as Science and Technology it offers various programs and courses such as B.A. Geography, B.Sc.-I Geography, add on courses, Certificate courses. The department has excellent tradition of results in the university level examination the faculty members have contributed expensively to Academics Research and student related activities. Students of the department have excelled in merit list of the university ours two students have got Gold Medal in the academic year 2012 13 and 2013-14 for getting first rank in University merit list for PAH Solapur University, Solapur.
After the degree many students seek admission to M.A./M.Sc. Geography, Geology, LLB, MBA, MSW, GIS, GPS, Remote Sensing, Urban & Regional Planning, Disaster Management, Research, Cartography Course, Hydrologist, Environmental Science, and many Competitive Exam (IAS, IPS, IFS) etc. Many of them try and succeed in the various competitive examinations. Some students from in this department has passed NET/SET Exam. Field project and study tour are arranged every year for the departmental students.
