BRIEF HISTORY OF DEPARTMENT :

Taking into consideration the need of Higher education of the rural students in this Taluka, this college was started by Sahakar Maharshi Shankarrao Mohite Patil. Initially it was Arts, Commerce & Science College. Akluj is the centre place of business & commercial activities of this Taluka. So Commerce faculty was started from the beginning. It aimed at to make the students aware about commercial & business activities.

Shri. Hari Laxman Vaidya was the first lecturer of the faculty. Then Shri. Suresh Govind Awachat was appointed as the faculty member later on Shri. Yadgiri R. I. (C. A.) and Adv. Patil P. V. were appointed to teach Accountancy & M. Law. respectively. Later on shri. R. C. Phade (C. A.) was appointed to teach advanced Accountancy & Adv. D. A. Phade was appointed to teach M. Law.

Shri. H. L. Vaidya retired from the service in July 2002. Shri. Ratnadeep Laxman Gaikwad was appointed in Place of Shri. H. L. Vaidya in Sept. 2002. Presently he is teaching Accountancy, Marketing & Management Thoughts. He is the Head of the Commerce Faculty.

The Dept. has a good tradition of University Results.. The percentage of result is above fifty per cent every year.

Shri. Mohite-Patil Madansinh Shankarrao is the prominent Alumni of the dept. He was the President of Solapur Zilha Parishad. Presently he is the leader of Nationalist Congress Party in Z. P. Solapur.

Shri. Mohite-Patil Dhairyashil Rajsinh is also the prominent alumni of the faculty. He is the founder of Social Organisation “Vijay Pratap Yuva Manch”. He was the Sarpanch of Akluj Gram Panchayat & Sabhapati of Panchayat Samiti, Malshiras. Now he is a parliament member. Besides his political activities, he is a businessman also. He runs “Shivratna Motors” in Akluj.

Shri. Mohite-Patil Sangramsinh Jaysinh is also is also the prominent alumini of Commerce faculty. He is the Chairman of Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Akluj. He was the former sarpanch of Grampanchayat Akluj.

Many of the past students of the faculty are Good Businessman, Chartered Accountant, Lawyers, Managers in Corporate Sector and Banks, Teachers, Shopkeepers, Self-employed persons, and Farmers etc.

The faculty organizes various Workshop, Seminars and Webinar on career opportunities in Commerce and Management, Banking, Insurance etc. for students. The faculty arranges Study Tours and Industrial Visits.
