S.M. Mahavidyalaya was established in rural area in 1967 in Akluj, with selected few departments and the library was in a single room of the main building. Then, there were only 1640 printed books and the cost was 15527.15/. In 2004, separate library building was constructed and named after Rabindranath Tagore who was an eminent educationist and philosopher. At present, the Library has over nearly 84748 printed documents and subscribes over 141 national and international peer reviewed Journals and Periodicals.

College library has a beautiful location, sufficient space and user oriented cupboards, locating attractive arrangement of resources. The library fulfills all the students’ requirements with sufficient collection, services, facilities, resources/e-resources supported by well trained staff.
