Department Of History
Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, taking into account the need of rural students to pursue higher education, started Arts, Science and Commerce College, Akluj. In the year 1981, the Arts, Science and Commerce College has been named after the founder of the institute, Sahakar Mahrshi Shankarrao Mohite Patil. History subject was introduced to B.A. III level as special subject in the year 1970. In 1970, the Department has been started with only ten students. At present there are sixty students admitted to the B.A. III special class with three lecturers.
History lecturers have delivered open lectures on Educational, Religious and Social Subjects. History Department regularly organizes study tours of B.A. III class & M.A. II class for systematic study. The Department has conducted various activities for the academic improvement of the students.
The achievement of the Department in the field of Books. Dr. Rananaware has written eights books two booklets for B.A. and M.A. classes. Dr. Mrs. J. D. Rananaware has written seven books. Dr. S.T. Waghmare has written one book. Dr. D. G. Magar is the editor of two books. Dr. S. U. Pawar has written two books.
Initially Prof. M. K. Mane laid down the foundation of the Department in 1970. He was first lecturer and HOD of History department in the college. He was gold medalist in M.A. (History) in Shivaji Universtiy, Kolhapur Dr. D.D. Rananaware joined the Department in 1974. Dr. D.D. Rananaware worked on different level committees and boards. He worked as a member of Management Council (MC). Academic Council (AC) Board of Studies (BOS) Board of College and University Development (BCUD), Science Faculty (SSF) Research and Recognition committee (RRC) of Solapur University and various committees. Dr. Mrs. J. D. Rananaware joined the Department in 1995. She was working HOD and a Senate Member of Solapur University, Solapur
Now the Department is headed by Dr. Sanjay Waghmare along with his colleagues Prof. Dr. D. G. Magar and Prof. Dr. S. U. Pawar.
The effective teaching methods, group discussion, seminars help for the good tradition of result. Many students have secured good marks in University Examination of P.A.H. Solapur University, Solapur and some have been the recipients of the gold medals for getting first rank in university at B.A.
